A clinical performance from high flying Poole Town saw them take all three points on Tuesday night on the South Coast. A double from Ezio Touray and one from Jake Lawrence helped them to a 3-0 win over the Geordies.
A slow start to the half for Hanwell saw them fall behind just two minutes in. A deep cross to the back post found Touray who made no mistake and headed home past Beasant to give the hosts the lead.
From going behind, Hanwell grew back into the game. Some strong pressing from the Geordies front line caused some issues for the Poole defence, but there was no end reward.
Some good build up play from George Knight in the middle of the pitch found Sankoh but his shot was just wide of the left post.
20 minutes in, the hosts doubled their lead. Hanwell lost possession of the ball on halfway and it was played wide to Lawrence, who drove towards the box and fired low past Beasant.
Looking to respond, Hanwell created some chances going towards the break. Snee continued to press well and it almost paid off when he chased down Parkes, but the ball deflected just wide.
The first half ended with the Geordies two goals down.
The second half started in lively fashion for both sides with Hanwell looking to respond to a disappointing first half.
But it was the home side that extended their lead 56 minutes in. A corner was swung in and headed down in the box, with Touray waiting to tap home to get his second and Poole’s third.
10 minutes later, Hanwell eventually scored but this was short lived. Alabi had wandered offside before delivering to Snee so the goal was disallowed.
The majority of the remainder of the game was dominated by the Geordies, looking to bounce back into the game. Chances from Roberto Nditi and George Knight were both fired well over the bar.
After a tame end to the game, the full-time whistle went and it was the home side who took all the three points.
The Geordies are next in action on Saturday when Evesham United travel to UB6 for a 3pm kick off.
