Welcoming Aldershot Town to Hanwell Town

As we welcome Aldershot Town to UB6 today, we also extend a very warm welcome to their new manager, Scott Davies and his lovely family Some of you may recognise Scottie from his very brief spell with the Geordies, including our play off final. A friend of the club, who helped us out on that day! While going through the photos from that historic day in Chertsey, I wasn’t able to find one quite appropriate enough to share in the programme. Let’s just say a party was definitely had back at the club after our promotion to Step 3! So instead, I’ve gone with this photo from a few years ago, when we went to watch Ascot United win the FA Vase.

Hanwell Town have faced Aldershot on a few occasions over the years, both home and away. One fond memory of mine is travelling to Aldershot during lockdown.

I remember that only ten members of the Hanwell committee were allowed into the stadium. It was eerily quiet, but still a wonderful experience to see Hanwell play in a proper old school ground.We were playing at Step 4 at the time, so it felt like a fantastic occasion, even if we did lose 6-0, or something close to that!

After being starved of football for a few months, it was still a great day. Fast forward six years, and here we are. Scottie returns to Hanwell.We are beyond thrilled to see Scottie back at Aldershot, and we wish him, his staff, players and everyone connected with the club all the very best for the season ahead
