Hanwell Town Football Club

21 April 2025: Chertsey Town 0-2 Hanwell Town

Hanwell concluded their travels within the Southern League Premier South with a comfortable victory at Chertsey on Bank Holiday Monday, extending their best ever season to new heights.

The Geordies got off to a sound start and they weren't long in taking the lead. A corner from Dan Carr evaded everyone, except the late arriving Will Hall, who bundled it home from close range.

Chertsey still needed points to be absolutely safe from relegation, and started to push forward with McCoy managing to connect with a cross, but his header was over the bar, not threatening Sam Beasant's goal.

Manager Chris Moore had brought in Kameron English to try and exploit a perceived lack of pace in the Chertsey defence and just before the half hour, it almost paid off. English broke through the defensive line but his shot was pushed wide by Chertsey keeper Josh Strizovic. From the resulting corner, Eliott Benyon reacted quickest to glance the ball into the back of the net.

After half time, Chertsey started to gain the upper hand, and once again, McCoy was closest with a shot that Beasant pushed wide of the post.

Hanwell were by now looking comfortable, and Chertsey’s task got harder as Louis Birch was dismissed for a second yellow card just before the hour.

Inside the final 15 minutes, and the home side were still fighting, with Luke Robertson coming closest but in the end, Hanwell earned a very good 3 points away from home, confirming a top 10 finish within the Southern League Premier South.

Chris Moore was content with the result, saying post match, “We were excellent from start to finish today. Yet we could have had more goals, there were at least another 3 or 4 one on ones. If you said to me before the game, that we'd going to come to Chertsey Town and win two-nil, I'd have taken your hand off, after they'd beaten us twice this season.”

Hanwell finish their best ever season with a final home game, against Plymouth Parkway on Saturday 26thApril, afterwards there will be the club’s End of Season Awards in the clubhouse, with tickets being available on line on the club's website.

19 April 2025: Hanwell Town 0-2 Taunton Town

Hanwell Town went down to an acrimonious defeat at the Powerday Stadium against a Taunton Town squad that had as much to play for as the Geordies did, both teams being solidly perched in mid-table.

Hanwell found it hard going right from the off, looking a bit out of sorts and lethargic, the Peacocks winning most of the early exchanges.

All the hard work that the Geordies had put in early was undone on 30 minutes, when Zebroski met Feltham's cross at the back post to hit the ball past keeper Sam Beasant from close range.

Hanwell started then to create chances but weren't able to level the score before the half time break.

After half time, the Geordies were starting to get into the game when after a loose tackle by Nielsen, Dwayne Duncan's verbal annoyance at the heaviness of the challenge on him was seen a dissent worthy of a red card by the match referee, much to the puzzlement of many within the ground.

Hanwell reorganised and started to make a much better showing, restricting the visitors to half chances. With about 15 minutes to go, Hanwell created their best chances, Mat MacKenzie’s shot on goal having to be scrambled off the line, all after he'd hit the bar with a header.

The Geordies made changes to stiffen the midfield but it all came to naught, as almost immediately, a high foot by Callum Woodcock was seen as dangerous play and so the referee decided to air his red card again.

Deep into the somewhat excessive 10 minutes of additional time, Taunton wrapped the game up.

Midfielder Nielsen caught Hanwell on the break, being short of numbers at the back as they tried to secure an equaliser. His pass inside found substitute Brain, who curled his shot into the net, past Beasant, from the edge of the penalty area, to leave the Geordies feeling hard done-by come the final whistle.

Post match, manager Chris Moore wasn't impressed by the performance by the Hanwell team.

He said: “We were better with nine men, we dug in and hit the bar twice. I was really happy with the way they rolled up their sleeves and never gave up. In the second half, we asked for more energy from the boys and got it from those nine men.

One thing that pleased Moore was the debut of QPR Academy player Ridwan Hassan in the second half.

“Ridwan has been another that QPR have entrusted to us, signing on deadline day, but had been injured. You could see he's a bit of a livewire and we look forward to seeing what he can do.”

Hanwell have two matches left of their season, making a visit to Chertsey Town on Bank Holiday Monday and then wrapping it all up with the final game, home to Plymouth Parkway on Saturday 26th.

Hanwell Town

1 Sam Beasant, 2 Joe Wilson, 3 Dan Carr, 4 Roberto Nditi, 5 Dwayne Duncan, 6 Harry Seabrook, 7 Taylor Miles (Callum Woodcock 72’), 8 Mat MacKenzie, 9 Alfie Pendlebury (Kameron English 87’), 10 Chris Regis (Ryan Cole 89’), 11 Joe Waight (Ridwan Hassan 54’).

Substitutes

12 Ryan Cole, 14 Ridwan Hassan, 15 Kameron English, 16 Callum Woodcock, 17 Will Hall.

15 April 2025: Hanwell Town 3-2 Dulwich Hamlet

Hanwell booked their place in the London Senior Cup final after coming from a goal down to beat Isthmian League side Dulwich Hamlet.

The Geordies were looking to make their second final of the season after finishing as runners-up to Rayners Lane in the Middlesex Senior Cup made life difficult for themselves after falling behind to Aaron Williams-Bushell’s 13th minute strike.

Dan Carr equalised under 10 minutes later before second half goals from Taylor Miles and Callum Woodcock gave the Geordies a two-goal cushion.

Hanwell, though, never do things the easy way and Amauru Kaunda pulled a goal back in the fifth minute of stoppage time and survived a late corner to progress to the final where they will meet Brentford B.

Chris Moore shuffled his pack after the 3-0 defeat at Gosport on Saturday, with Chris Regis, Joe Waight, Alfie Pendlebury, Will Hall and Woodcock coming into the side. Joe Wilson, Mat Mackenzie, Elliot Benyon, Ryan Cole and Kameron English made way.

The Geordies needed time to get into the game against the step three strugglers with Regis missing an early chance inside the first three minutes and they found themselves 1-0 down when Dulwich broke down the left hand side and the ball found its way to Williams-Bushell who made no mistake from close range.

The goal woke Hanwell up and they started to play the football that secured their best season in the club’s history and found their equaliser midway through the first half. Waight was fouled but the referee played a superb advantage to allow Regis to break into the penalty area. He rolled the ball across to Carr who fired home the equaliser.

Hanwell looked to apply more pressure but it took until the 65thminute for it to tell as Roberto Nditi, a fantastic mid-season signing, broke down the right and, after Dulwich failed to clear their lines, Taylor Miles’ shot took a deflection on its way past Dylan Berry and into the net.

And, while Berry was blameless for Miles’ goal, his clearance seven minutes later fell straight to Woodcock. The Geordies midfielder fed Pendlebury whose shot was blocked but Woodcock was on hand to make it 3-1 and seemingly send Hanwell to the final.

Hanwell had the game under control and could have added more goals but were caught late on as Kaunda had a free header in the 95thminute to give Dulwich a lifeline with two minutes of additional time remaining.

The visitors threw the kitchen sink, forcing a corner. Berry advanced but as soon as Hanwell cleared the ball, the referee blew the final whistle to send the Geordies to the final, provisionally scheduled for 29 April at Harrow Borough’s Earlsmead ground. A confirmed date will follow in due course.

Before that, though, Hanwell are back at the Powerday Stadium on Easter Saturday when the Geordies entertain Taunton Town before making the short trip to Chertsey Town on Easter Monday.

Hanwell: Beasant, Nditi, Carr, Hall, Duncan, Seabrook, Miles, Woodcock, Pendlebury, Regis, Waight.

Subs not used: Cole, Giscombe, Wilson, English, Carter-Rogers.

12 April 2025: Gosport Borough 3-0 Hanwell Town

Fresh from their dismal mid-week display against Hilllingdon Borough in the Middlesex Charity Cup, the Geordies travelled to meet Gosport Borough on Saturday with a side showing several changes from that which commenced the game against Hillingdon but still without leading goal scorer Jordan Edwards suffering from a long term injury.

There was immediate concern ten minutes into the game when Matt MacKenzie went down clutching his already damaged elbow which resulted in his withdrawal at half time.

Gosport were the more dominant side in the opening stages and they took the lead in the eighteenth minute, when from a short corner on the left wing, the ball found Gosport's Charlie Wassmer on the near past and he somehow squeezed it home past Town keeper Sam Beasant from close range.

Shortly afterwards a confrontation between Town's Dan Carr and Gosport's Bradley Tarbuck led to them both receiving yellow cards from the match referee.

Gosport went two up just after the half hour mark and again there was some concern at the frailty of Town’s normally resolute defence as an unchallenged Daniel Wooden volleyed home Nmarndi Nwachuko's cross from close range.

Town then had a great chance to reduce the deficit when excellent work by MacKenzie in midfield culminated in him playing a great ball into the path of Kameron English right through on goal but with just the advancing Gosport goalkeeper Adam Parkes to beat, his shot across the keeper went just wide of the far post.

At the other end, Tarbuck missed a good chance for Gosport, whilst on the stroke of half time, Ryan Cole saw his low shot beat Parkes with the ball just missing the far post.

The Geordies made three changes at the interval with Joe Waight, Alfie Pendlebury and Callum Woodcock coming on to replace MacKenzie, Elliot Benyon and Cole.

The move almost proved to be pivotal in any fight back as almost instantly, Parkes in the Gosport goal made a great save to deflect Waight's shot onto the crossbar from a cross by Carr and from there to safety.

In the fifty third minute, Gosport scored their third goal to virtually seal their victory when a low shot from Nwachuko took a huge deflection, wrong footing Sam Beasant completely as it found its way into the back of Town’s net.

Town made two further substitutions with Chris Regis replacing English and Will Hall, on his way to returning to full fitness, replacing Harry Seabrook.

As the minutes ticked away, Gosport were awarded a very tame penalty kick that surprised both sides but justice was done when Asher Yearwood's weak effort was comfortably saved by Sam Beasant.

1 Sam Beasant (C), 2 Joe Wilson, 3 Dan Carr, 4 Roberto Nditi, 5 Dwayne Duncan, 6 Harry Seabrook (Will Hall 81’), 7 Taylor Miles, 8 Mat Mackenzie (Callum Woodcock 46’), 9 Elliot Benyon (Alfie Pendlebury 46’), 10 Ryan Cole (Joe Waight 46’), 11 Kameron English (Chris Regis 61’).

Substitutes

12 Chris Regis, 14 Joseph Waight,15 Alfie Pendlebury, 16 Will Hall, 17 Callum Woodcock

8 April 2025: Hanwell Town 3-4 Hillingdon Boro

Hanwell Town crashed out the Middlesex County Cup at the quarter-final stage with a disappointing 4-3 loss to Hillingdon Borough on Tuesday (8 April 2025).

The Geordies were 2-0 down before 20 minutes had been played and despite twice narrowing the deficit, couldn’t defend well enough to give themselves a real chance to equalise.

Hillingdon, who play in the Combined Counties League Division One three tiers below Hanwell, played a brand of football reminiscent of a higher-level side and were good value for their leads throughout the game.

The Geordies came into the match after a huge 2-1 win over Merthyr Town on Saturday. However, they failed to carry their momentum over into what should’ve been a routine win against lower league opponents.

Hillingdon set the tone for the match after 24 seconds when Claudinei Briviglieri scored the opener. The forward dribbled through the middle of the hosts before firing a shot into the bottom left corner.

In the 18th minute, the visitors doubled their advantage. Mirko Jovanovic received a ball from the left in space just outside the box. The forward then curled his shot from the edge of the box into the top left corner.

Hanwell manager Chris Moore wasn’t happy and made two changes in the 20th minute. Alfie Pendlebury and Joe Waight were withdrawn and Chaynie Burgin and Ryan Cole were introduced.

With no clear improvement by the 36th minute, The Geordies made their third change of the evening with Mat Mackenzie replacing Callum Woodcock.

Five minute later a corner eventually found its’ way to Dwayne Duncan in the box. The defender headed the ball down to Burgin who smashed home from close range.

Just as Hanwell looked to push on after the break, Jovanovic scored his second of the game. The forward’s powerful shot from the right of the box wrong footed Trent Carter-Rogers and snook in the near post.

Joe Wilson cut the deficit to one once again in the 63rd minute with a shot from just outside the box into the bottom left corner.

Just as the hosts looked set to grab a late equaliser, Hillingdon broke down the left with Briviglieri before the finished into the bottom right corner for his second goal of the night.

Hanwell reduced the visitors’ lead once again just before half time. A cross from Wilson was headed in off the post from Duncan. Despite a late surge forward, Hanwell were unable to rescue the game and fell to a disappointing defeat.

The Geordies will look to avenge their defeat this weekend when they travel to Gosport Borough.

8 April 2025: Merthyr highlights plus Mooro

6 April 2025: Hanwell Town 2-1 Merthyr Town

On the day they celebrated 70 years of service by their Chairman Bob Fisher, Hanwell Town caused another twist in the Southern Premier League South title race with a 2-1 win over Merthyr Town.

Second half strikes from Dan Carr and Mat Mackenzie saw The Geordies race into a two-goal lead after the break. A penalty from Cole Jarvis gave the league leaders some encouragement but the hosts stood firm to hand Merthyr their first defeat since August.

Hanwell Chairman Bob Fisher was celebrated before the game with a guard of honour by both teams. A crowd of 402 fans watches lively first half end without a goal.

Elliot Benyon headed the biggest chance of the first half into the side netting after a Kameron English cross. The league leaders had limited chances, struggling to adjust to the pace of the game in the bright London sun.

At the start of the second half, English immediately attacked down the left and was brought down in the penalty area. Carr made no mistake from the spot and The Geordies had an unlikely advantage.

In the 58th minute, Hanwell had a fantastic chance to double their lead, English again got to the touchline and pulled the ball back for Carr. The wing-back’s powerful shot powered off the post before Mackenzie fired the rebound over.

The hosts eventually had their second goal in the 78th minute. A scramble in the box saw the ball bounce up for Mackenzie and the midfielder provided a looping header over the Jamie Cogman and into the Merthyr net.

Late on, Duncan fouled Simpson on the right side of the penalty area. Jarvis fired the penalty into the bottom right corner to get the visitors back into the game.

Merthyr, though, failed to create another big chance and Hanwell held on for a big win.

The result sees Hanwell climb to eighth in the Southern Premier League South. An incredible achievement considering the fight for survival they went through this time last year.

Hanwell manager Chris Moore was delighted with his team’s performance as they recorded their second straight home win over a title contender.

He said: “I think we’ve won a few games recently where we’ve ground it out and not been spectacular, but I thought we were really good today, really well organised and deserving winners."

Next week, Hanwell welcome Hillingdon Borough to The Powerday Stadium in the Middlesex County Cup Quarter Final. Then, they travel to Gosport at the weekend.

31 March 2025: Sholing highlights plus Mooro and Joe Waight

29 March 2025: Sholing 0-1 Hanwell

Fielding a side that showed several changes from that which had beaten Tooting & Mitcham in The London Senior Cup earlier in the week, Town had their third successive 1-0 win away at Sholing.

The Geordies took the lead in the sixth minute when Sholing's Reece Wylie pulled Alfie Pendlebury’s arm back in their penalty area and the match referee immediately pointed to the penalty spot.

Dan Carr made no mistake from the spot kick sending the Sholing keeper Pat Nash the wrong way.

In the 15th minute Pendlebury was yellow carded for what from our viewing position was an innocuous tackle on Pat Nash. This card proved to be one of the many shown by the match referee who could not have been entirely happy with his overall performance in a game between two competitive sides.

Midway through the half, Sholing did find the net but their Michael Folivi, Sholing's most potent attacker on the day was some yards offside. Minutes later Town received their second yellow card, this time it was full back Robert Nditi and again there was some question as to what exactly it was for.

The game meandered on with the ball more out of play than on it but we almost doubled our lead late in the half when Joe Waite latched onto a poor back pass but an excellent tackle by the home side's Joe Rabbetts blocked his shot.

Hanwell made a bright start to the second half with Taylor Miles bursting into the Sholing penalty area and finding Alfie with a good shooting chance but he dragged his shot wide.

At the other end Folivi had an excellent chance for the home side but he shot wide. As the game progressed Sholing enjoyed more and more possession but rarely looked like troubling Sam Beasant in goal such was the excellence of those in front of him, particularly central defenders Dwayne Duncan and Harry Seabrook.

However there was another twist in the tale with Pendlebury picking up a second yellow card shortly after the hour mark when his flailing arm was alleged by the Sholing player to have been a deliberate strike in the face and he made the most of it. The referee after consultation with his assistant was quick to flash the red card!

The remaining period of the game saw Sholing constantly attacking but with everybody working their socks off we held onto our narrow lead until the final whistle.

Town had one scare four minutes into time added on when Sholing's Bradley Targett went down in the box but the referee waved away their appeals, showing yellow cards to three Sholing players before blowing the final whistle to ensure that it was a happy coach back home.

27 March 2025: Hanwell make double deal

Hanwell made two deadline day moves to bring in reinforcements ahead of the final run in.

Ajani Giscombe, a midfielder, adds to Chris Moore's options having previously played for Reading U18s.

The Geordies have also secured the loan signing of Ridwan Hassan, a strong forward, from QPR following the Emmerson Sutton's successful loan spell at the Han Siro earlier this season.

27 March 2025: Cole loan extended

We are delighted to announce that Ryan Cole's loan spell at Hanwell from Wycombe Wanderers has been extended until the end of the season

27 March 2025: Tooting highlights

25 March 2025: Hanwell 1-0 AFC Totton

Hanwell Town advanced to their second semi-final of the season with a 1-0 win over Tooting & Micham United on Tuesday (25 March 2025) night.

A late goal from Dwayne Duncan meant The Geordies could breathe a sigh of relief after a frustrating game against a team two division below them.

Manager Chris Moore made eight changes from the side that beat AFC Totton 1-0 on Saturday.

Goal scorer Giovanni McGregor made his first start for the club, Trent Carter-Rogers returned in goal to give Sam Beasant a rest, and youngsters Ezekiel Coker and Nathan Boayke were given a chance to impress.

After a uneventful first 10 minutes, a free kick from the left from Joe Wilson was flicked on by Duncan at the front post. A game of volleyball then occurred in the Tooting penalty area before the away side eventually cleared.

Hanwell had the ball in the net in the 12th minute. Wilson crossed from the right and the young striker finished calmly at the back post. Unfortunately for the home side, the referee saw something he disagreed with in the build up and the goal was disallowed.

Wilson was back to his creative ways against four minutes later. His corner from the right was glanced wide by Chaynie Burgin.

Tooting had their first chance in the 19th minute. A loose pass forced Roberto Nditi to jump to the rescue to block Max Oldham’s shot from just inside the box.

Carter-Rogers was called into action in the 28th minute. A quick counter attack saw the goalkeeper have rush out and claim the ball before Alex Cruickshank could open the scoring.

Two minutes later, Giovanni McGregor found space on the left of the box. Unfortunately his shot lacked the power to trouble Toby McKimm.

Tooting almost took the lead in the 35th minute. A quick attack found Hussein Siklawi on the edge of the box and Carter-Rogers did brilliantly to turn the curling effort around the post.

Three minutes before halftime, McGregor drove through the midfield with speed. His right footed shot from the edge of the area was parried away from danger by McKimm.

There was a clear warning sign to Tooting just after halftime. Wilson’s free kick from the right was headed over by eventual goal scorer Duncan.

Wilson was back to his creative self to start the second half. The wing-back drove down the right on two occasions. His first effort to find an attacker was blocked before his second was poked wide by Coker.

After a raft of second half changes, The Geordies began to push for a winner. Cameron Rohart-Brown’s cross was knocked across goal by Mat Mackenzie but punched away by Mckimm before Alfie Pendlebury could pounce.

With the game looking destined for a penalty shootout, Wilson gave his team once last chance to win it at the death.

A lovely inswinging corner from the right was contested by at least a quarter of the players on the pitch. Duncan rose highest and nodded home to seal Hanwell’s place in the Semi-Final of the London Senior Cup.

On Saturday, The Geordies return to league action when they take on Sholing away from home.

23 March 2025: Totton highlights

22 March 2025: Hanwell 1-0 AFC Totton

Hanwell Town returned to winning ways with an excellent 1-0 over 2nd placed AFC Totton on Saturday (22 March).

In an action-packed game at The Powerday Stadium, debutant Giovanni McGregor scored with six minutes to go to seal the three points for The Geordies.

Hanwell entered the game fresh off the disappointment of losing the Middlesex Senior Cup final to Rayners Lane in midweek.

Coming into the game, the hosts had failed to score in three matches and faced the dauting task of trying to net past the league’s best defence.

A thunderstorm greeted the start of the match, and both teams struggled to create much in difficult first-half conditions.

In the 14th minute, Craig Tanner’s cross found Tony Lee. However, the Totton player’s header didn’t trouble Sam Beasant.

Three minutes later, former QPR striker Charlie Austin finished off a Totton attack. However, the assistant raised his flag and the goal was disallowed.

The best chance of the first half came in the 39th minute, when some good work from Ryan Cole on the right of the penalty saw the youngsters left footed shot curl wide.

After half-time, Joe Wilson created a similar chance for himself but overhit his shot from the right of the box.

Alfie Pendlebury held up the ball brilliantly for The Geordies throughout the afternoon and was unlucky to see an acrobatic shot drift wide.

In the 75th minute Austin had the ball in the back of the net, but his effort was once again ruled out for offside.

After coming on one minute earlier, McGregor latched on to a brilliant through ball from Alfie Pendlebury and found the bottom right corner to seal give Hanwell a surprising lead in the 84th minute.

The Geordies remained solid at the back and pulled off an important win Infront of a season-high crowd of 502.

The win moves Hanwell up to 11th in the table and keeps them clear of an entertaining relegation battle. Next week, The Geordies welcome Tooting & Mitcham United to The Powerday Stadium before travelling to Sholing.

19 March 2025: Hanwell 0-2 Rayners Lane

Hanwell Town suffered a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Rayners Lane in the Middlesex Senior Cup Final on Wednesday (19 March 2025) night.

First half goals from Elliott Buchanan and Marvin Sordell decided the game at Honeycroft, the home of Uxbridge FC.

The Geordies came into the game on the back of a 5-0 loss to Gloucester City and were looking to bounce back to get their hands on the trophy.

Chris Moore’s side beat Bedfont Sports on penalties to reach the final. Rayners Lane beat Harrow Borough by the same method to set up Wednesday’s showdown.

Hanwell had shouts for a penalty in the fourth minute following Alfie Pendlebury’s header, but the referee was not amused.

Ten minutes later, a Taylor Miles corner found Harry Seabrook at the front post. The Hanwell defender couldn’t get much power behind his shot and was easily saved by Endurance Johnson.

In the 22nd minute, Rayners Lane had their opener. Sordell, who played for Team GB at the 2012 Olympics, dribbled quickly down the left before crossing for Buchanan.

The striker, who had snuck between two Hanwell defenders, finished well to take control of the final.

Two minutes later, Sordell got a goal of his own. A long ball sent the former Bolton Wanders striker free down the left and he made no mistake by finishing calmly into the bottom right corner.

A rare halftime substitution by Hanwell demonstrated the level of improvement required by The Geordies in the second half. Kameron English replaced Rudi Pache.

Hanwell had more possession and spent most of the second half in Rayners Lane territory but a goal that would have brought The Geordies back into the game never arrived.

A side missing top scorer Jordan Edwards and creative youngster Ryan Cole lacked cohesion in the final third. Hanwell’s main threat came through Taylor Miles’ set pieces but even a few of them lacked quality.

A disappointing final performance shouldn’t overshadow an impressive and enjoyable run to the final from Hanwell. Big wins over Hayes & Yeading United and Enfield showed the full capabilities of Chris Moore’s squad.

The Geordies must respond quickly to the pain of a final defeat, they welcome league leaders AFC Totton to The Powerday Stadium on Saturday.

18 March 2025: Gloucester highlights

15 March 2025: Gloucester City 5-0 Hanwell

Hanwell Town were well beaten by Gloucester City on a chilly afternoon at the TigerTurf Stadium.

Jacob Evans opened the scoring in the 25th minute before Ellis Watts doubled the hosts advantage 10 minutes later.

Things didn’t get much better after the break for The Geordies, a Dayle Grubbs strike and a second for Watts saw the visitors 4-0 down in the 55th minute.

Brandon Smalley’s 12th goal of the season put a cherry on top of an excellent display from the high-flying Gloucester.

Hanwell’s overall performance wasn’t as bad as the scoreline suggests however they’ll still be disappointed with the manner of the defeat.

The Geordies started by pressing high up the pitch. They did occasionally cause the Hosts some issues, but Gloucester looked a real threat when breaking past the press.

Hanwell had an appeal for a penalty turned down in the 19th minute. Ryan Cole was brought down when preparing to shoot but the referee was not interested in The Geordies’ appeals.

Six minutes later, Evans scored his first goal for Gloucester with a powerful strike from the right of the area that gave Hanwell goalkeeper Sam Beasant no chance.

Shortly afterwards, Watts had his first of the game. Harry Pinchard put the ball across the box and the winger arrived in the six-yard box to tap home.

Hanwell, aiming to show a response in the second half, got off to terrible start, conceding a third almost immediately.

Watts turned from scorer to provider, threading a ball through to Grubb who calmly slotted his strike into the bottom left corner.

Eight minutes later, Gloucester had a fourth. Smalley played a ball through The Geordies high defensive line and Watts showed composure to roll the ball into the bottom right corner.

The final goal of the rout came in the 76th minute. Pinchard, Watts, and Grubby combined to give Smalley a tap in from inside the six-yard box.

Hanwell did look threatening toward the end of the game with Ezekiel Coker and Chaynie Burgin coming close to a consolation goal.

The Geordies were clearly disappointed with the manner of their defeat and went over to apologise to fans at full time.

Manager Chris Moore preferred to focus on The Geordies upcoming Middlesex Senior Cup Final against Rayners Lane.

Moore said: “A couple of the subs played their way into the team today. Rudi Pache and Joe Wilson I thought came off the bench and did well. It makes for a interesting Wednesday evening.”

The Final will take place on Wednesday March 19 at the Tithe Farm Social Club. Next weekend, Hanwell play AFC Totton at home of Non-League Day.

13 March 2025: Bob Fisher interview

11 March 2025: Frome 1-0 Hanwell

Archie Ferris scored a late winner as Hanwell emerged second best from a bruising encounter in Somerset.

The Geordies had chances but were unable to breach the stubborn Robins' defence.

And when Ferris latched onto a long ball, he made no mistake slotting it past Sam Beasant.

8 March 2025: Hanwell Town 3-3 Walton

Third-placed Walton & Hersham were held by Hanwell Town in a six-goal thriller at The Powerday Stadium.

Joe Waight’s opener put The Geordie’s ahead nine minutes before half-time but quick fire goals from Bobby-Joe Taylor and Ralph Vigrass put the visitors ahead before halftime.

Hanwell scored a quickfire double of their own in the second half. Ryan Cole and Dan Carr put the home side ahead with goals in the 50th and 56th minute respectively.

Then, with 25 minutes to go, Johl Powell levelled the game once again. Both sides seemed content with a point in a breathless encounter.

With only one loss in their last 11 league games, Hanwell knew they had what it took to challenge high flying Walton & Hersham. A September tie between the sides ended in a hotly contested 2-2 draw.

In the sun at The Powerday Stadium, The Swans started the game the brightest. Powell had the first chance of the game but Sam Beasant stood firm to keep the scores level.

In the 20th minute, a cross from Powell on the right rolled all the way past the goal before a follow-up shot was well blocked by Harry Seabrook.

After the next 16 minutes passed without event, Joseph Waight put The Geordies ahead. Dan Carr fired the ball into the box following a corner and the striker got on the end of a rebound to open the scoring.

The visitors quickly turned the game around. Bobby-Joe Taylor’s first goal for The Swans came after his whipped free-kick caught out Sam Beasant at the front post.

In first-half stoppage time Elliott Bolton smashed a ball across the box, at it reaches Ralph Vigrass who fired the ball in via a reflection.

Just after half-time, Waight found space in the box and forced a good save out of Laurence Shala. Wycombe loanee Ryan Cole reacted quickest to beat the Walton goalkeeper to the ball to level the scoring.

Just five minutes later, Waight brought the ball down to Alfie Pendlebury who laid the ball off to Carr on the edge of the box. The wing-back curled a beautiful shot into the top corner to put The Geordies ahead.

Walton responded well and, in the 75thminute, Thabo Kuaho crossed from the left and Powell tapped home to level the game once again.

Junior Eccleston came very close for the visitors with a header late on but Beasant sharply saved to secure another important point for Hanwell.

The result sees Hanwell drop to 11th in the Southern Premier League South table, nine points away from the relegation zone. They now face two away games in a week with a midweek trip to Frome followed by a visit to Gloucester next weekend.

5 March 2025: Dorchester highlights and Mooro

4 March 2025: Hanwell Town 3-0 Dorchester

Hanwell Town recorded an excellent 3-0 win over playoff chasing Dorchester Town on a chilly Tuesday (4 March, 2025) evening at The Powerday Stadium.

Goals just before halftime from Roberto Nditi and new signing Ryan Cole set The Geordies on their way before a late strike from Joe Waight put an exclamation point on the victory.

Hanwell came into the game winless in five league matches and fresh off conceding in the final minute to let a two-goal lead slip to relegation threatened Poole Town. The Geordies poor form had seen that slip closer to the drop zone themselves.

Manager Chris Moore got the response he was looking for with a fantastic all round performance against a Dorchester side unbeaten in 19 league games before travelling to London.

The first chance of the game fell in the eighth minute, a big scramble in the visitors box fell to Mat Mackenzie but his shot was well blocked by the Dorchester defence.

Two minutes later, Mackenzie had another chance after a lovely through ball from Waight. This time he was stopped by a last-ditch challenge by a visiting defender.

The Geordies continued their dominance in the 22nd minute. A lovely bit of play from Cole, who recently joined on loan from Wycombe Wanderers, freed the young attacker and he forced a good save out of Harrison Lee.

Six minutes before the break, a brilliant cross field ball from Waight found Nditi on the right. The wing-back drove through on goal and found the net from inside the box.

Three minutes later, Hanwell doubled their lead. Dan Carr made progress down the left and delivered an accurate cross into the box. Cole rose highest at the front post to glance the ball into the far corner and score his first goal for The Geordies.

Dorchester looked to respond after the break. Shaquille Gwengwe found himself one on one with Sam Beasant. However, the Dorchester man couldn’t get a shot away and the Hanwell goalkeeper collected the ball.

In the 53rdminute, Waight used his skill to advance into the box from the right and fire a curling shot at goal. Lee did well to get down and push the shot away from danger.

Four minutes later, Dwayne Duncan was left with his head in his hands when his powerful header was blocked off the line. A third goals would’ve surely sealed the game for The Geordies.

Dorchester kept going and Beasant was forced to save a powerful shot from outside the area by Corby Moore. The veteran goalkeeper was called into action once again when a strike from Wayne Robinson required his attention.

The Geordies stood firm despite increased Dorchester pressure and a back five of Nditi, Carr, Harry Seabrook, Dwayne Duncan, and Will Hall earnt a much-needed clean sheet.

Hanwell’s attack wasn’t finished either. Nditi drove dangerously down the right and was given all the time in the world to pick out Waight in the box. The popular striker fired home to cap off a wonderful team performance.

The Geordies' win was their first in the league at The Powerday Stadium since August. Despite this barren run, which included eight draws and five defeats, Hanwell sit 10th in the Southern Premier League South. On Saturday, they welcome Walton & Hersham to London in the last of three straight home games.

2 March 2025: Poole highlights

1 March 2025: Hanwell Town 3-3 Poole Town

A season-high crowd of 458 saw Poole Town score a last-minute equaliser to complete a late comeback against Hanwell Town on a sunny day at The Powerday Stadium on Saturday (1 March, 2025).

The home team performed well in the first half, securing a two-goal lead with goals from Joe Waight and Taylor Miles.

In contrast, The Geordies were a disaster defensively in the second half, letting Poole’s goal shy attack score three goals.

Hanwell came into the game after securing their place in the Middlesex Senior Cup Final in midweek with a win on penalties over Bedfont Sports.

Waight’s opener came after some great link up play between the striker and Alfie Pendlebury. The Hanwell man then fired his shot past Ben Taylor at the near post.

Three minutes later, The Geordies had a second. Taylor Miles rocketed in a shot from outside the box to double the home side’s advantage.

The sun was that bright at The Powerday Stadium that Hanwell goalkeeper Sam Beasant was wearing a cap. This helped him out when Slade poked a bouncing ball in behind The Geordies defence that the goalkeeper had to come and collect.

Just before halftime Waight and Pendlebury combined again. This time the latter had the shot but couldn’t trouble Taylor.

In the 51st minute Poole struck their first blow. A corner from the left was eventually volleyed home by Ezio Touray.

Hanwell initially responded well, Elliot Benyon tapped home after Dwayne Duncan’s header rebounded off the bar and The Geordies had another two-goal advantage.

Mat MacKenzie had an opportunity to seal the game in the 60th minute but fired his shot wide from outside the box.

Then, after Harry Thomas fired home to half the deficit, Hanwell sat back and invited pressure from their relegation threatened visitors.

Poole, encouraged by Hanwell’s timidness, pushed on and took charge of the possession battle.

However, they created little and with eight minutes of normal time to play, Hanwell had an excellent chance to extend their lead again. MacKenzie stole the ball from Poole’s defence on the halfway line and drove towards goal.

His shot was brilliantly saved by Ben Taylor and the visitors continued pushing for an equaliser.

They dramatically secured a deserved point in the 94th minute when Harvey Slade fired home after a cross from the right.

The draw leaves Hanwell 13th in the Southern Premier League South, eight points clear of Poole who occupy the last relegation spot. On Tuesday, The Geordies welcome Dorchester to The Powerday Stadium.

25 February 2025: Hanwell reach cup final

Hanwell Town earned a spot in the Middlesex Senior Cup Final with a comeback victory over Bedfont Sports on Tuesday (25 February).

After a scoreless first half, goals from George Frise and Tommy O’Neill put the hosts 2-0 up after 70 minutes.

Taylor Miles brought some life back into the game with a 80th minute free kick. Then, after ten minutes without creating much, Joe Waight reacted quickest to poke home from close range.

Bedfont, who play two divisions below Hanwell, came into the game on a run of eight games without defeat. The Geordies were looking to bounce back after their own unbeaten run was ended by Hungerford Town.

Bedfont started the game bravely. Showcasing the quick, confident football that has helped them put together an unbeaten run. Their best chance of the first 20 minutes fell to Tyler Robinson who hit the left post after a quick breakaway.

Hanwell’s first opportunity didn’t fall until the 29th minute. Miles’ free kick from the right was begging to be tapped home but instead rolled through the box before being cleared.

Robinson was clean through again four minutes later. However, this time he forced Sam Beasant into a save.

In the 38th minute, Chaynie Burgin did well to control a long ball forward and play in Chris Regis. The Hanwell midfielder couldn’t quite get enough power on his shot and it was saved by Gary Ross.

Just before half-time, Ezekiel Coker pulled off a back-heel to find Avan Jones on the left corner of the penalty area. The defender then whipped a threatening ball across the box which Ross had to push away from danger.

After a uneventful start to the half, a mix up in the Hanwell defence sent George Frise one on one with Beasant. The midfielder rounded the goalkeeper and opened the scoring for the home side.

Ten minutes later, Jake Woods whipped in a corner from the left and O’Neill met the ball at the front post to double Bedfont’s lead.

After making some changes, Hanwell gradually started to control possession. Still, Bedfont were a threat on the break with their speed.

The Geordies put their foot in the door in the 80 the minute when Miles fired a free kick from 20 yards out into the top right corner.

To complete the comeback, Waight reacted the quickest after Joe Wilson had cut in from the left and fired a shot across goal. The two goals shocked the hosts who had been good value for their two goal lead.

With the scores level after 90 minutes, a penalty shootout was needed to determine who would advance to the Middlesex Senior Cup Final.

Hanwell were perfect from the spot with Miles, Dan Carr, Alfie Pendlebury, Waight, and Wilson showing excellent composure to convert.

George Maxwell put Bedfont’s first penalty wide. Hanwell’s flawless spot kicks meant the home side never recovered despite scoring their next three.

The Middlesex Senior Cup Final will be played on March 19 at Uxbridge FC. The Geordies will play Rayners Lane in the final. This weekend, Hanwell welcome Poole to The Powerday Stadium.

23 February 2025: FREE entry at Bedfont

Bedfont Sports have announced that there will be free entry for the Middlesex County Cup semi final on Tuesday 25 February.

We hope to see as many Hanwell fans as possible there to roar the team in this final four clash. The game kicks off at 7.45pm.

23 February 2025: Hungerford highlights and Mooro

22 February 2025: Hungerford 2-0 Hanwell

Hanwell Town’s nine match unbeaten run came to a disappointing end as they were beaten 2-0 at Hungerford Town on Saturday (February 22).

Two goals from Louis McGrory either side of half-time put The Geordies in an unescapable hole. After a terrible start, the visitors grew into the game. However, they still struggled to create a clear-cut chance after Hungerford were reduced to 10 men in the 80th minute.

The hosts came into the game having won seven of their last eight games. The run had seen them close in on the playoff places and Hanwell were aware of the challenge they’d be facing at Bulpit Lane.

The first chance of the game resulted in the opener. Louis McGrory fired an instinctive finish past Sam Beasant after a scramble in the box.

Hungerford kept the momentum for the first twenty minutes, having numerous other opportunities to double their lead. The Geordies seemed to be struggling with the bobbly, sloped pitch at Bulpit Lane.

The hosts, familiar with the surface, were using a variety of long balls and winning the majority of the duels during the opening 20 minutes.

Hanwell did have the ball in the net with an acrobatic effort from Harry Seabrook following a free kick but the linesman had flagged for an offside in the build-up.

Just before half-time, Hanwell were forced into a change. Rudi Pache was forced off and replaced by top score Jordan Edwards, who started on the bench due to illness.

Things didn’t get much better for The Geordies after the break. Some clumsy defending saw Hungerford awarded a penalty. McGrory stepped up and smashed the ball into the left corner to double the hosts’ lead.

Jordan Rose thought he had scored a third for Hungerford six minutes later but was flagged offside.

Hanwell then made three substitutions over the next 10 minutes and began to grow into the game.

In the 75th minute, Alfie Pendlebury had a big chance to get Hanwell back into the game but stabbed his effort over the bar.

Two minutes later, former Liverpool forward Jordan Ibe was introduced to a big ovation for the hosts. Shortly afterwards, there was a change in mood at Bulpit Lane when Rose was sent off for a foul on Cheynie Burgin.

Hanwell controlled possession from then on but struggled to create anything of note. Burgin did have a decent chance following a cross but mishit his effort hight and wide.

The defeat sees The Geordies drop to 12thin the Southern Premier League South. On Tuesday they will play Bedfont Sports in the Middlesex County Cup Semi Final.

20 February 2025: 150 not out for Carr

20 February 2025: Bedfont tie confirmed

We hope to see as many Geordies as possible there to roar the team in this final four clash.

20 February 2025: Hayes highlights and Mooro

18 February 2025: Hanwell 2-1 Hayes & Yeading

Hanwell Town overcame local rivals Hayes and Yeading 2-1 in the Middlesex Senior Cup Quarter Final on Tuesday (February 18).

Hayes did take an early lead through Adam Martin. However, Ezekiel Coker had The Geordies level 25 minutes later.

Then, veteran striker Elliot Benyon turned back the clock to give Hanwell a deserved lead.

The Geordies came into the game against their step 4 opponents unbeaten in eight games. They came back from two goals down against Havant & Waterlooville last weekend to preserve that record.

The visitors had the first shot of the game in the 4th minute when the ball fell to Herson Alves on the edge of the box. The midfielder’s volley bounced awkwardly but didn’t challenge Sam Beasant.

Hanwell had their first chance four minutes later. Joe Wilson made progress down the right and found Benyon in the box. Juliusz Pazio reacted well to save the strikers shot.

Hayes got the opener in the thirteenth minute. A good team move eventually found its’ way to Martin who made no mistake with his finish.

Coker had a lively 25 minutes before finally equalising in the 39th minute. First, a threatening run down the right ended in his shot being blocked.

Next, the striker fought hard to control a ball in the box and finished well. However, he was judged to have handled the ball and the goal was disallowed.

Seven minutes later, Benyon played Coker through one on one with Pazio. The striker couldn’t find the corners with his shot and it was batted away by the Hayes goalkeeper.

Pazio was called into action again 10 minutes later. This time he could only parry Rod Orlando-Young’s powerful effort into the path of Coker. The young striker gratefully smashed home to finally level the game for The Geordies.

Hayes could’ve retaken the lead just before half time when Rocky Williams pounced onto a loose ball on the edge of the box and fired just wide.

In the 52nd minute Coker was sent down the left by Woodcock and won a promising free kick.

Miles’ delivery was cleared but Hanwell won another free kick in the left corner. After a series of unsuccessful crosses, Coker’s eventual shot was blocked.

Coker was back in action again four minutes later. Beating his man on the before crossing. Chaynie Burgin couldn’t get enough power on his header and Mark Amaning cleared.

In the 66th minute, The Geordies took a lead they would never relinquish. Benyon beautifully controlled a cross from the right, beat his man, and smashed a shot in off the crossbar.

Hayes and Yeading never gave up and their best chance to equalise came in the 75th minute. Keano Robinson connected with a cross from the left at the back post. However, his shot was high and wide.

It was a morale boosting win for Hanwell, who had drawn their last three game. Players struggling for minutes also got a run out against a highly competitive Hayes & Yeading side.

On Saturday, Hanwell make the trip to Bulpit Lane to face Hungerford Town. They will play Bedfont Sports next Tuesday in the Semi Final of the Middlesex Senior Cup.

16 February 2025: Havant highlights and Mooro

15 February 2025: Hanwell 2-2 Havant

An 83rd minute screamer from Dan Carr saw Hanwell Town come from behind to draw 2-2 with playoff chasing Havant and Waterlooville at The Powerday Stadium on Saturday (February 15).

After an uneventful first half which saw the game played at a slow pace, a Leon Maloney penalty and a strike from Ryan Seager saw the visitors into a comfortable lead just after the hour mark.

Then, Harry Seabrook’s second goal in as many games and a powerful, curling effort from Carr brought The Geordies level.

The hosts came into the game unbeaten in seven games while Havant had lost three of their last five games.

The first chance of the game came in the seventh minute when Harvey Laidlaw picked out Maloney with a ball into the box. The striker then fired a shot at goal, but Sam Beasant was able to divert it away from danger.

Hanwell had their biggest chance of the half in the 20th minute. Alfie Pendlebury’s shot from the right of the box was saved. The ball then rebounded to Jordan Edwards whose shot was heroically blocked on the line by a Havant player hidden amongst the bodies.

Havant responded like a poked bear with two big chances of their own. First, Maloney found Rueben Swann and the midfielder’s first time strike was met by the defiant hand of Beasant.

Next, Laidlaw sent a long ball forward that was chased by Callum Kealy. Eventually the ball set nicely for Seager but Beasant was there again to deny Havant.

The second half started as the first had ended. Then, Rudi Pache, drafted in as a late replacement when Will Hall was injured in the warmup, fouled Maloney in the Hanwell box.

The Hawks attacker converted the resulting penalty and snatched the momentum for the visitors. Just after the hour mark, Havant had their second goal of the afternoon.

Maloney did well to control a long ball forward and slipped a fine ball through to Seager. The striker finally got the better of Beasant by lifting the ball over the experienced goalkeeper.

For the next 10 minutes, the game looked like it was going to go down as a comfortable victory for the Hawks. Hanwell players were showing their frustration and were giving the ball away in promising areas.

Then, after Jordan Edwards was fouled on the right of the box, The Geordies got a much-needed lifeline. Taylor Miles’ set piece found the head of Seabrook and, despite getting a hand to the effort, Havant goalkeeper Ben Dudzinski couldn’t keep it out.

Substitute Coker had a chance to level the game seven minutes later after a powerful run down the right. The striker cut inside but couldn’t keep his left-footed effort down.

Three minutes later, Carr gave everyone in The Powerday Stadium a lesson on how to finish. Edwards did well to hold onto the ball on the edge of the box and it eventually fell to the full-back 20-yards out.

Carr then delivered the perfect combination of power and curl to put his strike into the top right corner. It was another contender in the full-back’s personal goal of the season competition.

In stoppage time, Elliot Benyon almost won the game for The Geordies. A Miles corner from the right somehow found the experienced striker at the back post. His volley was brilliantly kept out by Dudzinski.

The draw sees Hanwell drop to 11th in the Southern Premier League South.

On Tuesday, they welcome Hayes and Yeading to The Powerday Stadium in the Middlesex County Cup Quarter Final.

11 February 2025: Hayes & Yeading postponed

Due to the recent wet weather, the pitch at the Powerday Stadium is waterlogged and tonight's (11 February) Middlesex County Cup meeting with Hayes & Yeading has sadly been postponed.

A new date will be announced in due course.

10 February 2025: Winchester highlights and Mooro

8 February 2025: Winchester 1-1 Hanwell

A 92nd minute Tom Wright equaliser denied Hanwell Town a hard-fought away win at Winchester City on Saturday (8 February).

In a first half that saw both goalkeepers put to the test, Harry Seabrook’s diving header sent the Geordies into the dressing room with the lead.

Then, after defending well for much of the game, a brief lapse in concentration from Hanwell’s defenders allowed the hosts to draw level in stoppage time.

The Geordies came into the game looking to extend their six-game unbeaten run. In contrast, Winchester were hoping to bounce back from a 4-2 loss to Walton & Hersham.

The first 10 minutes of the contest went by without event then, after a brilliant through ball by Wright, Trevor Caborn saw his effort from the right of the box saved by Sam Beasant.

10 minutes later, Mat Mackenzie, Joe Wilson, and Alfie Pendlebury combined nicely down the left and the latter had his shot blocked for a Hanwell corner.

Taylor Miles lofted the corner from the right to the back post and an unmarked Seabrook met the delivery with a powerful diving header to give the travelling fans behind the goal a reason to cheer.

Hanwell could have doubled their lead when Wilson and Pendlebury again combined down the right. The former's looping cross found Jordan Edwards and the striker's header forced a good save out of Luke Cairney.

Winchester had a chance to equalise in the 30th minute. Ik Hill led a breakaway from a Hanwell set play. The ball eventually found its way to George Britton on the right. His cross deflected back to Hill whose forceful shot was brilliantly saved by Beasant.

In the 43rd minute, a long range shot from Max Smith whistled just past the right post. Hanwell had their own attempt at a long range screamer a few minutes later when Mackenzie’s 25-yard volley was slightly wide of the top left corner.

Both sides were out early for the second half, Winchester eager to build on an encouraging end to the first half and Hanwell looking to extend their narrow advantage.

Wilson was lively throughout the game. Just after the restart, the wing-back drove into the middle of the box and saw his shot saved by Cairney.

Winchester then took control of the half and had numerous chances to pull level. Wright’s diagonal shot from the left of the box forced Beasant to use all of his flexibility to reach it.

Britton’s curling effort from the right corner of the box flew over everyone and hit the bar. Hill, Caborn, McCormick, and Wright all had other chances to pull the hosts level.

It looked like Hanwell had just about done enough to seal another away win. This was until the hosts caught the Geordies off guard with a quick free kick. Wright was found on the edge of the six-yard box and the striker’s low driven shot was hit too quickly to be blocked or saved.

The visitors will be disappointed to not leave with all three points after leading for so long. However, a point extends their unbeaten streak to seven games and lifts them to ninth in the Southern Premier League South.

On Tuesday, The Geordies welcome Hayes and Yeading United to the Powerday Stadium in the Middlesex County Cup. Then on Saturday, they face Havant & Waterlooville at home.

5 February 2025: Hanwell 2-2 Wimborne

Hanwell were held to a 2-2 draw by a motivated Wimborne side on a cold Tuesday  night at the Powerday Stadium.

Joe Waight’s brilliant 18th minute strike was cancelled out by Matty Burrows’ effort just before halftime.

Then, after Will Hall’s bullet header had given Hanwell another lead, Jack Lovell finished off a quick Wimborne breakaway to level the scoring once again.

Hanwell came into the game unbeaten in five. In contrast, the visitors had failed to win in their last three contests. However, it was Wimborne who started the quickest.

There were no real chances in the opening 15 minutes and Hanwell eventually found their footing in the game. Some good work from Mat Mackenzie saw Jordan Edwards win a corner on the left.

Wimborne failed to clear the corner, and the ball eventually fell to Waight. The inform striker powered his shot from the left of the box into the right of the goal.

The rest of the half went by in similar fashion to the first 15 minutes with neither side creating many chances. This was until the last five minutes, where Wimborne had a flurry of chances to equalise.

Harry Morgan had the best chance of the half in the 43rd minute. The ball fell to Wimborne’s number 8 just inside the box, but he fired wide.

The visitors eventually got their equaliser in the second minute of first half stoppage time. Hanwell failed to clear the ball and Burrows’ shot from the edge of the box found the bottom corner.

Winborne started the second half in a similar frame of mind. Burrows almost had a double when he fired wide after a pull back from Drew Eccott-Young.

Hanwell weathered the storm and looked like the side most likely to take the lead. A lovely, lobbed pass from Taylor Miles found Waight who forced a good save out of visiting goalkeeper Ben Rodwell.

The Geordies took the lead from the resulting corner. Dan Carr’s floating cross from the right was met with a powerful header from Hall and ball flew into the right of the goal to give Hanwell their second advantage of the game.

The home side failed to build on their advantage and were pegged back again 10 minutes later. Wimborne absorbed some Hanwell pressure and broke quickly. Substitute Matt Neale played a precise through ball to Jack Lovell who beat the onrushing Sam Beasant to the ball and finished into the bottom right corner.

Wimborne had the better of the game from then on as they looked for a rare away win. However, a draw was a fair result with both sides having their share of possession and chances. It will still be a frustrating draw for Hanwell manager Chris Moore, who had to see his side give away two leads.

The draw sees Hanwell remain in 10th in the Southern League Premier South. This weekend, they travel to Winchester to face the side placed 16th.

Hanwell XI: Beasant, Pache, Carr (Esuka 79'), Miles, Seabrook, Hall, Wilson, Mackenzie, Pendlebury (Regis 84'), Edwards (Coker 84'), Waight

3 February 2025: Emmerson Sutton interview

2 February 2025: Congratulations Emmerson

Hanwell can confirm that Emmerson Sutton has returned to QPR after the completion of his loan spell.

Emmerson made a huge impact since joining from the Hoops, making 11 appearances and quickly became a fan favourite at the Powerday Stadium.

Since returning to W12, he scored a hat trick against Arsenal in the FA Youth Cup and has now signed a professional contract with the R's.

Manager Chris Moore said: "While I am sorry to see Emmerson return to QPR as he is a fine young man who can achieve whatever he wants to achieve in the game. I am proud of how he has developed during his time at Hanwell. I know QPR have been delighted with his progress as well and recognise the Club as one that develops and improves young players. We thank them for the trust they placed in us with Emmerson's development."

QPR CEO Christian Nourry told the Hoops' official website: “Emmerson is a dangerous and exciting attacker whose level of physicality has much improved over the last six months, which owes a lot to his loan spell at Hanwell Town”

Everyone at Hanwell wishes Emmerson well for his future career. He will always be welcome back at the Powerday.

26 January 2025: Basingstoke highlights plus Mooro

25 January 2025: Basingstoke 3-4 Hanwell

Just a week ago Hanwell seemed about to be caught up in the dogfight at the bottom of the league but two magnificent victories on the road have lifted them into the top half and everyone can breathe a little more easily. Let us hope it stays that way!

Things started well for Town at the Winklebury Community Stadium with top scorer Jordan Edwards slotting home a penalty after his shot into a crowded box had struck a ‘Stoke arm.

The home side, spurred on by a large gathering of highly vocal supporters behind the goal, immediately pressed for an equalizer and Ben Cook missed a good chance before firing in from close range to level the scores just before the half hour mark.

Shortly afterwards a blow to the face left Callum Woodcock prone and bleeding. The aftermath saw four bookings, three to the management teams. Both sides could have gone in front before the interval.

In the Geordies’ case it was a scramble in the home side’s goalmouth where at least three attempts on goal were blocked. Meanwhile, up the other end Sam Beasant needed to dive full length to turn Sam Deadfield’s strike for a corner.

Basingstoke started the second half on the front foot but it was Hanwell who netted first thanks to our old adversary, ‘keeper Simon Grant, messing up a short clearance to present Joe Waight with an open goal.

Four minutes later the home side made it all square. Harry Seabrook appeared to mistime a challenge in the box and James Clark made no mistake from the spot despite Sam almost getting a hand to the perfectly placed kick.

The ensuing period of play saw Sam being the busier ‘keeper and he was called upon twice to dive at the feet of onrushing forwards. However, with ten minutes to go, Hanwell went in front for a third time. Dan Carr’s free kick from the touchline was cleared back out to him and he strode forward to hammer the ball low into the net.

Basingstoke’s quest for an equalizer left them open to counter-attacks and a flowing move involving Jordan and substitute Joe Wilson saw the latter’s low cross bundled into the net, either by Alfie Pendlebury or a ‘Stoke defender, depending on your angle of sight.

The game appeared to be safe, but it wasn’t! Three minutes into added on time Liam Ferdinand pulled one back for the home side, leaving the ‘Toon’ four and a half minutes to hang on, which they did.

After the final whistle the players rightly went over the corner to thank the ‘Massif’ for their noisy support despite being outnumbered and displaced by the much more massive Basingstoke ‘tifosi’.

TEAM: 1.Sam Beasant 2.Roberto Nditi 3.Dan Carr 4.Callum Woodcock (15.Joe Wilson 56) 5.Dwayne Duncan 6.Harry Seabrook 7.Taylor Miles (14.Chris Regis 78) 8.Mat MacKenzie 9.Alfie Pendlebury (16.Elliot Benyon 83) 10.Jordan Edwards 11.Joe Waight (12.Zeke Sonukan 90+2). Unused substitute: 17.Will Hall.

21 January 2025: Plymouth Parkway 0-2 Hanwell

Dan Carr’s first half brace made Hanwell’s 400+ mile round trip to Plymouth Parkway on a Tuesday night one to remember.

The Geordies’ strong November had given way to a difficult December with only one win in the previous nine games but, once they took the lead, they never looked like losing.

A cagey opening period allowed Hanwell to settle into their work with Roberto Nditi’s shot being blocked. The hosts had two chances but Tom Dean’s header went wide and Ryan Brett had a shot from range drift well wide of Sam Beasant’s goal.

Hanwell grabbed the lead on 27 minutes as Carr took advantage of a missed header to control and lash a shot past Luke McCormick via a deflection off Dean.

The goal lifted the Geordies and they set about hunting for a second to give them a cushion. Nditi saw another shot blocked after some fine hold up play from Jordan Edwards.

Edwards, Hanwell’s top scorer this season, then rattled the crossbar after Alfie Pendlebury’s fine run and cut back.

With three minutes to go before half-time, Carr had his second brace of the season following his double at Poole in November, rifling a shot home off the post.

Hanwell would have expected a Plymouth rally in the second half but the Geordies stifled them at any opportunity.

Indeed, Chris Moore’s side had the better chances with Nditi forcing a save from McCormick twice with Joseph Waight firing over with the goal at his mercy.

The final whistle was greeted with aplomb from the travelling Geordies with the players going over to thank the fans who made the long trip to Devon with them.

Hanwell are back on the road on Saturday making the, relatively, short trip to Basingstoke Town.

Hanwell: Beasant, Nditi, Carr, Woodcock, Duncan, Seabrook, Miles, Mackenzie, Pendlebury, Edwards, Waight (Coker 82).

Subs not used: Orlando-Young, Regis, Pache, Wilson

19 January 2025: Hanwell 1-1 Tiverton

Hanwell overcame a sluggish start to pick up a deserved point against Devon club Tiverton Town, thanks to a debut goal from new signing Joe Waight.

The Geordies took a while to get going in their first match since New Years Day and Tiverton immediately looked the more threatening, with Joe Parker asking questions that the Hanwell defence struggled to deal with, forcing an early save from keeper Sam Beasant.

Hanwell were just starting to get themselves into the game, when after about 15 minutes, they had a great chance to take the lead. Debutant Joe Waight's shot was blocked by Tiverton keeper Joe Duncan, the rebound falling to Rod Orlando-Young, whose shot from close range went wide when it would have been easier to score.

The Geordies were made to pay for that miss, when a far post cross from a wide free kick was met at the back post by Asa Hall, his header back across goal being turned in at close range by skipper Matt Britton.

Hanwell then started to create chances but Tiverton responded with chances of their own before the home side equalised just before the break.

Joe Waight latched onto a quick through ball, taking it to the edge of the penalty area before clinically slotting the shot past Duncan.

The Devon side opened the quicker in the second half with the busy Parker still making life difficult for the home, side, his shot just after the restart forcing a good save from Beasant.

The game then became a lot tighter with Tiverton creating further opportunities through Marcus Day and Hall, before Dan Carr forced a great save from keeper Duncan, his curling shot from distance looking on target for the top corner.

In the end, despite late Hanwell pressure, and Waight firing another chance over the bar, they couldn’t break the stubborn Tiverton and the Geordies had to settle for the point.

2 January 2025: Marlow highlights

2 January 2025: Mooro reflects on Marlow win

1 January 2025: Marlow 0-2 Hanwell

The Geordies started the New Year in fine style as having not won since defeating Poole Town on 23rd November, eight games ago, they defeated bottom of the table Marlow on New Years Day.

The side showed just one change from the previous game with a welcome return to the side of Matt MacKenzie who replaced Taylor Miles who dropped to the bench.

On a cold and wet afternoon and on a slippery but very playable surface kick off was delayed for five minutes due to a problem with the goal nets at one end of the pitch.

This was the only item of interest in the opening twenty minutes with both sides trying to come to terms with the surface and the strong wind.

In the 25th minute, Alfie Pendlebury was put though on goal by a fine ball from Jordan Edwards but was tripped from behind by the Marlow skipper Louis Rogers when what looked to be a clear run to goal. It seemed to be a red card offence but the match referee opted for a yellow card.

However, three minutes later in the 28th minute, the Town were ahead. A great ball by Dan Carr put Jordan through on goal with only the Marlow keeper Aaron Watkins to beat and Jordan made no mistake scoring with aplomb.

Marlow missed a golden opportunity to draw level five minutes later when William Gutierrez Ramirez broke clear on the right with a clear run to goal but Sam Beasant coming off his line blocked the shot. Marlow’s main attacking threat seemed to be their long throw ins but our back line stood firm and we went in at the interval one ahead.

The Geordies made a terrific start to the second half by scoring in the 48th minute. A strong run by Rod Young down the left culminated in him sending a great cross into the goalmouth where Jordan headed home for his second goal of the afternoon.

On the hour mark, Marlow made three substitutions but we were in control and should have gone further ahead. Emmerson Sutton, playing his final game for the club at the end of his loan period by QPR, made another of his strong runs down the right flank before sending the ball into the Marlow goalmouth where Matt volleyed it over the bar.

As the minutes ticked away play became very scrappy and Marlow’s cause was not helped when their Rhys Harper was sent off for a second yellow card with Hanwell making three substitutions in the final minutes of the game.

For the hardy group of Town supporters who had made the short trip to Marlow, the final whistle was a very welcome sound !

29 December 2024: Mooro on Swindon draw

28 December 2024: Swindon S 2-2 Hanwell

Hanwell were minutes away from a vital away win at Swindon Supermarine when a 90th minute Harry Seabrook own goal forced the Geordies to take a share of the spoils.

Chris Moore’s side rallied after going behind to a second minute Ioan Richards goal with Jordan Edwards’ brace, including a sublime free kick, sending Hanwell into a 2-1 half-time advantage.

The Geordies had chances to make the game safe and were, ultimately, made to pay when a hopeful ball in towards the box was turned past Sam Beasant by the unfortunate Seabrook.

Moore made two changes from the side that had lost 2-1 at home to Chertsey two days earlier with Roberto Nditi making his Geordies debut at the expense of the injured Mat MacKenzie, while Rod Orlando-Young came in for the injured Kameron English. The changes allowed Emmerson Sutton, on his 18th birthday, to play in a more advanced role.

Hanwell, though, fell behind early on as they failed to deal with a second minute corner and Richards bundled the ball home after it had cannoned back off the post.

The goal woke the Geordies up and they were back on level terms after just 10 minutes as, from a corner of their own, Edwards stabbed the ball home, running away to high five the jubilant travelling supporters.

Sutton nearly had a goal to cherish on his birthday but dragged his shot wide and Orlando-Young scuffed his effort when well placed.

It took a moment of class, though, for Hanwell to take a deserved lead. After Richards conceded a free kick right on the edge of the area for a scything challenge on Alfie Pendlebury, Edwards stepped up and found the top corner for his second free-kick goal of the season, following up his effort at Taunton in September.

Swindon came out fighting in the second half and Beasant made an early save to keep the Geordies in front.

The Geordies were probing but were unable to get the final ball and shot into the box to create the opportunity.

As the minutes ticked by, Hanwell sat deeper and deeper as Supermarine started pumping the ball forward in a bid to get an equaliser. When they did breach the defence, Beasant was on hand to save the Geordies.

However, there was a sting in the tail as Seabrook looked to see a tame high ball into the box back to Beasant, unfortunately beat him to give Swindon an equaliser they had threatened.

The Geordies looked to carve out a late winner but it was not to be and they made the relatively short trip back down the M4 with a point rather than three. On New Year’s Day, Hanwell make the short trip to Marlow before hosting Wimborne on 4 January.

Hanwell: Beasant, Nditi (Regis 67), Carr, Woodcock, Duncan, Seabrook, Sutton, Miles, Pendlebury, Edwards, Orlando-Young (Boakye 82).

Subs (not used): Benyon, Hall, Coker.

27 December 2024: Chertsey highlights

27 December 2024: Mooro on Chertsey loss

26 December 2024: Hanwell 1-2 Chertsey

Hanwell’s difficult run of form continued as Chertsey came from a goal down to claim a 2-1 win at the Powerday Stadium on Boxing Day.

Jordan Edwards had fired the Geordies into a half-time lead after superb control from Alfie Pendlebury. However, scrappy goals from Jack Mazzone shortly after half-time and Dan Rowe 20 minutes later gave the Curfews the points.

Hanwell were looking to recover from Friday night’s 4-1 defeat in Sandhurst to Bracknell Town and the opening exchanges were cagey as players ran off their Christmas dinners.

The Geordies took the lead as Kameron English nipped in to win the ball at the expense of advancing Chertsey keeper Joshua Strizovic. The ball went back to Alfie Pendlebury who controlled the ball and selflessly laid the ball off to Edwards who tucked the ball home.

Emmerson Sutton had a glorious opportunity to make it 2-0 but Strizovic atoned for his earlier error by rushing out to block the on-loan QPR youngster’s shot.

Mat MacKenzie’s shoulder woes came back once again after he made a strong clearance and he was forced off at half-time.

Hanwell were made to pay for that miss as they failed to deal with a ball across the box and Mazzone was on hand to tap home three minutes into the second half with the visitors’ first clear opening.

The goal knocked the stuffing out of the Geordies as they tried to reclaim the lead but it was Chertsey who got that vital second goal as Rowe tapped home from close range.

Hanwell threw the kitchen sink at the Curfews and Pendlebury’s goal was ruled out for offside as their winless run continued. English was forced off with a muscular injury as he battled manfully to help his team.

The Geordies are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Swindon Supermarine.

Hanwell: Beasant, Sutton, Carr, Woodcock (Orlando-Young 90), Duncan, Seabrook, Miles (Boakye 86), MacKenzie (Regis HT), Pendlebury (Benyon 86), Edwards, English (Coker 76).

21 December 2024: Bracknell highlights

21 December 2024: Mooro on Bracknell

20 December 2024: Bracknell 4-1 Hanwell

Hanwell had a night to forget in Sandhurst as a late collapse saw Bracknell Town take all three points.

Jordan Edwards’ 64th minute penalty had cancelled out Josh Boorn’s strike just minutes prior to give the Geordies a springboard where they could win the game.

But a horror two minutes saw Gabe George and Haydon Vaughan capitalise on defensive errors to give the Robins a 3-1 lead and the latter found the net again in stoppage time from the halfway line with Sam Beasant stranded.

Hanwell were looking to get their Christmas period off to a good start but Beasant had to make an early save but Edwards, two minutes later fired over the bar to rattle the hosts.

The subsequent exchanges were tamer with Beasant making a good save from Jack Matton before tipping George Knight’s strike over the bar.

Hanwell rallied and Dwayne Duncan headed just wide on 35 minutes before Kam English forced a save from Michael Eacott as the first half finished goalless.

Bracknell took the lead on the hour mark as Boorn found space at the edge of the area to fire his shot across Beasant and into the net.

It didn’t take long for Hanwell to rally and they had a glorious chance to equalise after a handball in the Robins’ penalty area. Edwards stepped up and made no mistake from the penalty spot.

However, the Geordies were masters of their own downfall as Matton was given the freedom of the midfield to pick out George whose effort beat Beasant fand found the net with 15 minutes remaining. Seconds later, a tame back pass from Duncan fed Vaughan who lobbed Beasant to make it three.

The Geordies threw bodies forward and with Beasant essentially playing in a holding midfield position there was always a danger of a breakaway goal. And that happened when Vaughan won the ball back and fired over Beasant and into the net from the halfway line.

Hanwell have a chance to right the wrongs of Friday night’s loss when they take on Chertsey Town on Boxing Day in a rematch of the FA Cup second qualifying round and, with happier memories for Geordies fans, the 2022 Play-Off final where Chris Moore’s side won promotion to the Southern League.

Hanwell: Beasant, Sutton, Carr, Woodcock, Duncan (Boakye 82), Seabrook, Regis (Miles 82), Mackenzie, Pendlebury (Benyon 77), Edwards, English (Coker 50).

Substitutes: Coker, Benyon, Pache, Miles, Boakye

10 December 2024: Hanwell 0-0 Gosport

Hanwell Town were held to a 0-0 draw by Gosport Borough at The Powerday Stadium on Saturday (December 15). The Geordies were looking to build on their performance from a heartbreaking FA Trophy defeat to Eastleigh on Tuesday night.

Star player Jordan Edwards returned to the bench after missing the Eastleigh game and Rudi Pache and Elliot Benyon started in place of Joe Wilson and Alfie Pendlebury.

In a tightly contested affair, Hanwell had the better of the second-half chances will feel they should’ve won the game late on.

The visitors aimed to start quickly when Sammuel Faniyan played through Asher Yearwood. One on one with Sam Beasant, the Gosport attacker could only fire his shot straight at the Hanwell goalkeeper.

Gosport did have a first half penalty appeal turned down when Jamar Smith fell to the ground under pressure from Rudi Pache, but the referee was unmoved.

Kameron English saw his powerful long range effort fly over the bar. This was a demonstration of the lack of quality chances being created by either team.

The second half was a lot better from a Hanwell perspective, Chris Regis saw his 48th minute shot saved after good linkup play with Dan Carr.

Mat Mackenzie tried his luck from range and his shot came closer than English’s effort but still didn’t test goalkeeper Adam Parkes.

A poor clearance from Beasant set up Daniel Wooden for a golden opportunity, but the Gosport striker’s shot was blocked by Calum Woodcock.

On the 60th minute, English was active once again. His trickery earnt him some hard-to-come-by space on the left and his cross was begging for a Hanwell player to tap it home.

Gosport had another shout for a penalty turned down when Faniyan tried to round Beasant when through on goal. The attacker went to ground and was booked for diving, a relief for Hanwell after the controversial penalty they conceded in similar fashion against Eastleigh last time out.

The Geordies hit the bar in the 68th minute when Mackenzie’s shot was deflected and looped goalwards.

Substitute Rod Orlando-Young came closest to opening the scoring when his close-range effort whistled wide in stoppage time.

After going eight games unbeaten, The Geordies are now four games without a win. A cause of this injuries with Hanwell missing many key players over the last few weeks.

The draw sees Hanwell drop to 12th in the league. On Friday, they travel to Bracknell in their final game before Christmas.

12 December 2024: Eastleigh highlights

10 December 2024: Hanwell 1-2 Eastleigh

Hanwell Town’s record-breaking run in the Isuzu FA Trophy came to a heartbreaking end as they lost 2-1 to Eastleigh at The Powerday Stadium on Tuesday (December 10).

Joe Wilson’s 29thminute wonder goal had the Geordies dreaming of an upset. However, Eastleigh kept themselves in the game despite not playing well and equalised just before the hour mark through Scott Quigley.

Then, with three minutes to go, the visitors were awarded a controversial penalty. Chris Maguire, who made over 100 appearances for Sunderland, made no mistake from the spot and left Hanwell disappointed with the result but proud of their performance.

The game started at a high tempo with both teams eager to get the opening goal of the FA Trophy Third Round clash. Mat Mackenzie almost sent a lively Hanwell crowd into raptures when his long-range volley hit the bar.

Eastleigh had their first opportunity of the game when Alex Stepien-Lwumene broke free down the left. His shot from the left corner of the box was well saved by Sam Beasant.

A few minutes later, Tyrese Shade turned quickly on the edge of the box and fired the ball off the left post.

Hanwell had their opener in the 29thminute. A Hanwell long throw wasn’t cleared properly by Eastleigh and fell to Joe Wilson on about 25 yards from goal. The full-back smashed the ball into the top right corner to create a party-like atmosphere in the Ray Duffy Stand.

The Geordies managed to resist any Eastleigh pressure and went into the half-time break on track to cause an FA Trophy upset.

In the 50th minute, Hanwell almost doubled their lead when Ezekiel Coker was fouled on the edge of the penalty area. Dan Carr’s resulting free kick was just wide to the of the left post.

Some good play from the visitors ended with Scott Quigley clean through on goal. Beasant managed to get a hand on the forward’s shot, but it still trickled into the back of the net to bring the scores level.

Hanwell then dug deep and, despite conceding most of the possession, stopped their higher-tiered opposition from having many chances to take the lead.

In the 87th minute, substitute Jai Semenyo drove into the Hanwell box and pushed the ball passed Beasant. The Geordies goalkeeper was judged to have tripped the Eastleigh forward and the visitors were given a chance to win the tie from the spot.

The experienced Maguire made no mistake, firing his penalty into the left corner to give Eastleigh the lead. Hanwell came very close to equalising late on but Kameron English’s low driven shot was just wide.

Despite the loss, Chris Moore will be proud of his side’s performances in this season’s FA Trophy. The Geordies will look to carry their encouraging performance into this weekend’s league clash with Gosport Borough.

5 December 2024: Mooro unhappy after Frome loss

4 December 2024: Hanwell 0-2 Frome

Hanwell Town suffered their first defeat in eight games with a disappointing 2-0 loss to Frome Town at The Powerday Stadium on Tuesday.

Two first half goals from James Ollis in the space of three minutes saw Hanwell go in at the break needing a miraculous turnaround to save their unbeaten steak.

Despite two half time changes, the Geordies were unable to create anything to test Frome goalkeeper Kyle Phillips.

Hanwell came into the game looking to return to winning ways against the side bottom of the Southern Premier League South.

The game started without any chances of note. Hanwell had most of the possession but seemed happy to pass the ball around defence.

In the 20th minute, some good play around the box by Hanwell resulted in Calum Woodcock’s cross being caught by Phillps. Frome then broke and Carter-Rogers had to make a good save to deny Ollis.

16 minutes later, some good combination play between Archie Ferris and Ethan Vaughn on the edge of the box resulted in a low cross being fired across the goal. Ollis was left unmarked at the back post and tapped home to give the visitors the lead.

Hanwell didn’t respond well to going behind and Frome doubled their lead two minutes later. The visitors again found space on the left and the ball was pulled back by Ollis, who added his second of the game.

Manager Chris Moore made two changes at the start of the second half. Alfie Pendlebury and Aderi Dede were taken off with Elliot Benyon and Ezekiel Coker introduced.

Coker had an opportunity to reduce the deficit in the 49th minute. Taylor Miles put in a great cross from the left, however the striker could not direct his header on target.

Hanwell continued their push forward in the 52nd minute. Chris Regis tried his luck from outside the box that Phillips had to push away from his bottom left corner.

Three minutes later, the Geordies hit the post. Carr found Coker on the left of the penalty area. The striker turned and fired an effort towards goal that rebounded off the left post and out of play.

In the 65th minute, Ollis had the opportunity to get his hat-trick. A long ball from midfield sent him through on goal with Hanwell failing to play an offside trap. However, the striker dragged his shot from the right of the box wide.

The rest of the game fizzled out, with Trent Carter-Rogers the busier of the two goalkeepers. Hanwell were left to rue a missed opportunity to climb up the table.

The result sees the Geordies remain 10thin the league, a win would’ve put them seventh. On Saturday, Hanwell welcome National League Eastleigh to The Powerday Stadium in a massive clash in the FA Trophy.
