Hanwell Welcomes International Football Teams to Oliver Connell & Son Community Stadium for Unity Cup
Hanwell Town FC proudly played host to all four nations participating in the 2025 Unity Cup, opening the doors of the Oliver Connell & Son Community Stadium to welcome squads from Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, Ghana and Nigeria. The international tournament, celebrating African and Caribbean football heritage, brought a host of recognisable talent to West London.
Each nation used Hanwell’s facilities as their training base, with several players boasting strong ties to English clubs.
Nigel Hunt, Chief Executive Officer of Hanwell Town FC, said: “We are delighted to have welcomed all competing teams in the Unity Cup to the Connell’s Community Stadium for their training sessions. It was a privilege to be chosen and it demonstrates the growing reputation the club has internationally in terms of training facilities. It was a pleasure to host them all and we wish all teams well for their upcoming World Cup qualifying campaigns.”
Star-Studded Squads Grace Hanwell
Jamaica triumphed in the opening game, beating Trinidad & Tobago in their semi final by three goals to two before Nigeria edged out Ghana 2-1 in the second semi final.
Ghana claimed the bronze medal, easing to a 4-0 win over Trinidad & Tobago before Nigeria were crowed champions after winning 5-4 on penalties with the match ending 2-2.
Hanwell Town extends its congratulations to all participating teams and looks forward to supporting future international fixtures at the Connell’s Community Stadium.
